PRE-WRITING
We discuss various approaches to writing college admission essays.
We use brainstorming techniques to generate essay ideas and a structure.
You begin to write!
The Writing Process, Step-by-Step
essay development
You’ll work on first and second drafts and I’ll provide feedback. Comments and suggestions will focus on story flow, strength of narrative, authenticity, and finally, grammar and punctuation.
You’ll solicit feedback from your college counselor, parent and trusted teacher.
Once you’re satisfied with your work, the essay will be ready to go!

can we work via zoom?
Local students: Our sessions are virtual or in person - your choice.
International/out of state: Our sessions are on Zoom or Google Meet.
how long does the process take?
It varies from student to student. Typically, an engagement lasts between 4-6 weeks. Our timeline is built around your application stage. I always suggest starting the summer before senior year.
how do i share what i’ve written?
A shared document on Google Drive is the optimal way to collaborate.
how do you charge for services?
My fee for services is based on the number and length of essays and stage of development. Fees are specified once the project scope is defined.

My Background
With a bachelor’s from Brandeis and a master’s from Stanford, my career has spanned more than 35 years in education - from teaching to leading a non-profit. Writing and editing are at the core of everything I do.
